Now
What am I doing now? Well, as last recorded on 6/16/2025...
I finished Stargate Atlantis, and while the gap left by the axed season is very much felt, it left on bittersweet but poignant note. I think I can say with confidence now it supercedes SG-1 as my favorite of the two. Except for the weird penultimate alternate reality episode. That was just another Wormhole X-Treme except the parody and irony became unbearable.
Unfortunately as a result, I am currently trudging through Stargate Universe's second season. Not much I can say about the show besides it exists, and it is a depressing time capsule of Great Recession sentiments in the US. The weird and unsettling change in cinematography, dingy color grading, and the unabashed excusing of cruel military personnel for "the greater good." Also fun fact: shows that want support from the US military for things such as use or portrayal of its vehicles has to show the military in a positive light. While this is true of all Stargate shows, this is the most egregious example with the lengths I have seen the soldiers get away with treating non-military people aboard the Destiny horribly. It's rough.
I'm still getting around to that one shrine page as detailed last time. It's getting there.
